What is available in each room?

What are the bed sizes?

Small rooms have a full sized bed.

Medium and large rooms have a queen sized bed.

 

Can I transfer from one building to another Student Housing Works location?

You are permitted to change locations after you move in, but only under the following conditions.
You must commit to your initial reservation dates if you signed a rental agreement. Any application or service fees must be paid for the new location, even if you paid the same fees for your first reservation.

Should I apply although I am not ready to make a payment?

We strongly advise that you do not apply until you are ready to pay for your reservation.  Applying and not making the payment (as per the invoice we email you) can prolong the reservation process. Applying will not place you on a reservation list.

How do I receive mail and packages?

Your mail and packages can be picked up at the reception / help desk in the main lobby. The building address will be indicated on the confirmation email. You are permitted to have mail and packages sent BEFORE your move-in date but only AFTER your reservation has been confirmed.

After I move in, how and when do I pay rent?

Are towels provided?

Can I have packages sent to the residence before I move in?

Yes!  Feel free to send packages to the location that you are scheduled to move into. The mailing address will be sent to you in the confirmation email.

Can I bring my pet / service animal?

For the safety of our staff and guests. .  Sadly, we have had to make the tough decision not to allow dogs and other pets on the property. Although we love animals, we ask that you please leave your pet at home during your visit.  This “No Pets” policy applies to:  All Pets, Emotional Support Animals, Comfort Animals, Therapy Animals

 

What shouldn’t I bring to West 94th St?

Furniture, Air conditioners, air coolers, and electric heaters, candles or Incense, drugs and other controlled substances without prescription, Flammable decorations including natural or artificial Christmas trees, Halogen lamps, Extension cords and multi-plug adapters (Exception: Power strips with built-in surge protectors are permitted),Hot plates, grills, or other open flame devices, pets or animals of any kind, Weapons of any kind: This includes firearms, fireworks, ammunition, knives, swords, or explosives.

Are bedding and linens provided at West 94th?

Professionally cleaned linens, blankets and pillows are provided at no extra cost. You can bring your own you if you wish.

What is included with rent at the West 94th street residence?

All utilities, Wi-Fi, electric, gas, water, cable TV,  room cleaning, linens, blankets, pillows are all included in with rent.

Are the rooms furnished at West 94th St?

Yes, all of our apartments are fully furnished. More details regarding what’s available or issued can be found under the location’s description page. Feel free to ask us questions about specific items if you do not see what items you might be looking for.

When will my reservation be confirmed t West 94th St?

After you decide on a residence (after reviewing the monthly rate, fees and services)  submit the inquiry form to check for availability.  If we have availability for your requested dates, we will reply back to you within 24 hours with an email linking the application form. Submit the competed application form. Within 24 hours we will email you an invoice for payment. Your reservation is not confirmed until your payment is made. If we do not have availability, we will contact you to discuss other options.  Do not submit an application until you know for sure that you want to reserve a place and pay for your reservation.

 

Can I view the apartment before applying?

Yes!   First submit an application by clicking apply now. If we have availability, we will email you with an option to schedule an in-person visit or virtual tour. Your friends/family are also welcome to schedule a visit on your behalf.

Is room cleaning service available?

What if I want to extend my stay?

You are permitted to extend your reservation after you have made your initial reservation. However, we strongly advise that you book your reservation for the entire period that you anticipate being in New York. There’s a strong chance that your room will be booked by someone else after original your move-out date. If this is the case, we will not be able to offer you an extension.

What fees do you charge?

A one-time service and application fee are noted on this webpage.

 

How do the shared bathrooms work?

West 94th Street has both rooms with private and shared bathrooms. The shared bathrooms are on every floor; are for single-person use (at a time) and are cleaned by our maintenance staff daily. An average of 3 people to 1 bathroom.

Am I allowed to have guests?

Your guests are welcome to visit. Please register your guest at the reception desk when they arrive.

 

Is the building like a typical college dormitory?

We strive to maintain a quiet, well-maintained and professional atmosphere. Our locations are not a fraternity or sorority type environment.

Is the building safe?

There is a full-time security person behind the reception desk 24/7. Additionally, there are staff workers throughout the building at any given time. All visitors must first check in with the reception desk.

 

Are laundry machines available?

Laundry machines are available. They are operated by a card payment system.

How is the neighborhood?

Welcome to the Upper West Side of Manhattan!  The building is conveniently located on West 94th Street, (between West End Ave and Riverside Drive).  All types of food markets, cafes, 99 cent stores, movie theaters and everything else is within walking distance. The nearest Subway (1-2-3 train) is 3 blocks away on 103rd Street. You can learn more about the neighborhood HERE. Students attending Columbia University, Fordham University, Fashion Institute of Technology, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai are among the many who call our locations home

Can I bring my own linens, blankets, pillows?

Absolutely! You are permitted to bring your own linens, blankets, pillows although we provide these items at no extra cost.

Can I move in or move out mid month?

You can move in on any day of the month. You will only be charged for the number of days of the month that you stay for. Example: move in date May 20th = You will be billed only from May 20th- 31st. If you move out on July 10th, you will be billed for only 10 days in July. More information about billing can be found here
