Privacy Policy

Cookies and online services

Updated October 31, 2026. This section describes the website services currently used by Student Housing Works and supplements the general privacy information below.

Your cookie choices

Use the Cookie Preferences button to accept or reject optional Statistics and Marketing cookies, or change your choice later. Your choice is stored in the wpconsent_preferences cookie for 30 days. Essential cookies support site functions and remember your choice. After withdrawing consent, reload the page to stop previously loaded optional content; you can also remove existing cookies in your browser settings.

The consent controls manage the configured analytics and video services described below. Hosting and security services may also use cookies. Browser cookie controls provide additional options.

Analytics and videos

We use Google Analytics to understand website visits and completed actions such as applications, waitlist requests and tour bookings. Optional Google Analytics cookies are controlled by the Statistics category. We use Google Consent Mode: when these cookies are declined, Google may still receive limited cookieless measurement signals. Declining optional cookies does not mean that no information is sent to Google.

YouTube property videos are optional and load after Marketing consent. Loading a video allows YouTube to receive information about your visit and use its own cookies. See Google’s Privacy Policy and Google’s cookie information.

Forms, communications and scheduling

Information you choose to submit through our forms is used to handle your housing inquiry, application, waitlist request or tour. Our workflow uses Airtable for records, ActiveCampaign for communications and Calendly for scheduling where offered. These services process the information needed for those functions. Cookie consent is separate from submitting a form or choosing to receive communications. You can use the unsubscribe link in marketing emails to change your email preferences.

Hosting and spam protection

GoDaddy hosts this website. We have disabled its optional Real User Metrics program. Hosting and security providers may still process technical information needed to deliver and protect the site. See GoDaddy’s Privacy Policy.

The site uses Google reCAPTCHA for spam protection. It currently loads on pages even when optional Statistics and Marketing cookies are rejected. Google reCAPTCHA may process browser and device information for risk analysis and sets the _GRECAPTCHA cookie when executed. See Google’s Privacy Policy and Google’s reCAPTCHA cookie information.

Configured cookie information

The list below describes cookies configured in our consent manager. It is not an exhaustive list of cookies that external services or your signed-in accounts may use. Browser restrictions and service settings may shorten the listed durations.

For privacy questions or requests concerning information you have provided to SHW, contact brian@studenthousingworks.com.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data
