Frequently Asked Questions

Does each room have a microwave and oven?

No, but you are permitted you bring a microwave. Also, there is a microwave in the student lounge. There are no ovens at this residence.

Should I apply although I am not ready to make a payment?

We strongly advise that you do not apply until you are ready to pay for your reservation.  Applying and not making the payment (as per the invoice we email you) can prolong the reservation process. Applying will not place you on a reservation list.

How do I receive mail and packages?

Your mail and packages can be picked up at the reception / help desk in the main lobby. The building address will be indicated on the confirmation email. You are permitted to have mail and packages sent BEFORE your move-in date but only AFTER your reservation has been confirmed.

After I move in, how and when do I pay rent?

What is the $50 Electricity cap

If the electricity usage runs beyond the $50 ‘cap’ you will be charged the amount over $50. For example, if the electric usage is $60 for the month, you will be responsible to pay $10. To avoid unnecessary charges, it’s a good idea to turn off all appliances when you’re not home.

Can I have packages sent to the residence before I move in?

Yes!  Feel free to send packages to the location that you are scheduled to move into. The mailing address will be sent to you in the confirmation email.

What shouldn’t I bring to West End Ave?

Furniture, Air conditioners, air coolers, and electric heaters, candles or Incense, drugs and other controlled substances without prescription, Flammable decorations including natural or artificial Christmas trees, Halogen lamps, Extension cords and multi-plug adapters (Exception: Power strips with built-in surge protectors are permitted),Hot plates, grills, or other open flame devices, pets or animals of any kind, Weapons of any kind: This includes firearms, fireworks, ammunition, knives, swords, or explosives.

Are the rooms at West End Ave furnished?

Yes, all of our apartments are fully furnished. More details regarding what’s available or issued can be found under the location’s description page. Feel free to ask us questions about specific items if you do not see what items you might be looking for.

Is there parking at West End Ave?

Student housing Work’s locations do not have designated parking lots or garages. What fees do you charge at West End Ave?

All fees are listed in the Rates and Fee section HERE. There is a $50 electricity cap. If the electricity surpasses $50, the occupant is responsible for the overage amount.

 

 

What is included with rent at West End Ave?

All utilities, Wi-Fi, electric, gas, water is included with rent. There will be no additional costs aside from any add-on services that you may have requested. There is a $50 cap on electricity.

How can I schedule a tour the West End Ave residence?

To schedule a tour, first complete an application by clicking “Apply Now”.  We will email you confirming availability and provide you with an opportunity to schedule a tour.  Your family and friends are welcome to stop on your behalf if you are not in town.

What is the Maximum number of days I can make a reservation for at West End Ave?

Most students or interns rent for the extent of their semester, program or internship duration.  This is practical since there is no requirement for a long term rental contract.  If you need to extend your stay, simply contact us to place an extension request.

 

When will my reservation be confirmed at West End Ave?

Within 24 hours of your application being submitted, if we have availability we will email you an invoice for payment.  If we do not have availability, we will contact you to discuss other options.  Do not submit an application until you know for sure that you want to reserve a place and pay for your reservation. Your reservation is not confirmed until your payment is made.

 

Is room cleaning service available?

Room cleaning is an optional service and is available for a fee.

 

Are bedding and linens provided at West End Ave?

A bedding package can be purchased for a $50 fee which includes a single comforter, sheet, pillow and pillowcase.  You can bring your own if you wish.

What if I want to extend my stay?

You are permitted to extend your reservation after you have made your initial reservation. However, we strongly advise that you book your reservation for the entire period that you anticipate being in New York. There’s a strong chance that your room will be booked by someone else after original your move-out date. If this is the case, we will not be able to offer you an extension.

Am I allowed to have guests?

Your guests are welcome to visit. Please register your guest at the reception desk when they arrive and notify us if your guest will be staying longer than 1 week.

 

Is the building like a typical college dormitory?

We strive to maintain a quiet, well-maintained and professional atmosphere. Our locations are not a fraternity or sorority type environment.

Is the West End Ave building safe?

There is a full-time security person behind the reception desk 24/7. Additionally, there are staff workers throughout the building at any given time. All visitors must first check in with the help desk.

 

Are laundry machines available?

Laundry machines are available. They are operated by a card payment system.

How do I apply for housing at West End Ave?

Submit your application by clicking the “Apply Now” button found on the location page that you are interested in. Within 24 hours, we will reply back with a confirmation on our availability for your requested dates. Included will be options to schedule an in-person or virtual tour and or instructions to complete an application for your reservation. Once we approve your application, we will email you an invoice for payment. All you have to do is make the payment and then move in.

How is the neighborhood?

Welcome to the Upper West Side of Manhattan!  The building is conveniently located on the quaint West End Ave, (between 101st and 102nd street).  Less than a block from Broadway. All types of food markets, cafes, 99 cent stores, movie theaters and everything else is within walking distance. The nearest Subway (1-2-3 train) is 3 blocks away on 103rd Street.
